SAMANTHA FABIAN
I got into filmmaking when I was sixteen, after taking a few film theory classes in high school. I was obsessed with figuring out how everything on screen came together, so I dove headfirst into learning camera operation, AC’ing, and live production. Now, I thrive in the hands-on, technical side of filmmaking. While cinematography crosses my mind from time to time, my strength lies in hands-on collaboration, helping bring the director and DP’s vision to life rather than designing the shots myself.
Beyond the technical aspects, I’m drawn to stories that dig deep into characters—their personalities, motivations, and relationships. There’s something so fascinating about shaping interactions through dialogue, exploring the psychology of connection on screen.
Outside of film, I’m always looking for inspiration. I read a lot of horror, fantasy, and fiction, and my music tastes venture from rock to folk. Traveling is another dream — I’ve explored New York, Japan is next, and Ireland is at the top of my list.
Right now, my goal is building up my portfolio to aim for a steady career as a 1st AC, while still staying open to paths like DP work or production management — anything that keeps me on set, immersed in the world of filmmaking. At the end of the day, I just want to stay on set, collaborating, problem-solving, and bringing stories to life.
